This is a literal transcription of Loyal Lewis Roll of Honour 1914-1918, as published by the Stornoway Gazette in 1921. It lists all men from the Isle of Lewis who fought in the First World War.

The transcription is ordered by village and croft / house number. Where more than one family is quoted as residing at the same address, they are separated by a horizontal line on the page. Any family information is provided in italics, sometimes below a horizontal line.

The villages are grouped by school district, as they existed in 1914.

The information in the Roll of Honour is unfortunately full of errors. Please note that NO effort has been made to correct any of these.

This site is in tribute to those from Lewis who took up arms for King and Country between 1914 and 1918. Their number stands at 6,200. More than 1,300 of them did not survive the conflict. More than 200 of those lost were drowned in the sinking of HMY Iolaire on 1 January 1919.
